5/28/09 update

Melinda had a good and stable night. Arrived at the hospital and the nurse said Melinda is very active this morning. Melinda is working real hard to get her mittens off her hands to pull on her vent hoses. Melinda was awake and had her eyes wide open. I want to clarify that the doctors are giving Melinda medicines to fully wake her up. The doctor explained that Melinda has to break through the barrier or fog to be fully awake and this will take some time. Melinda does not communicate with us and does not always follow commands.

Dr. Britt assessed Melinda and did not order her off the ventilator because of her blood pressure issues. Melinda's blood pressure is being monitored closely. Melinda's pressure is managed by blood pressure medicine. Melinda is given medicine to help her sleep and relax through the night and is handling this well.

Please continue to pray for Melinda. Melinda is improving a little bit each day but has a long recovery ahead of her. GOD BLESS!
