UPDATE

5/5/09

Melinda's night was stable. Early this morning the neurosurgeons assessed Melinda and decided to remove the catheter in her brain. They feel that she has improved enough and the pressure on her brain will be controlled by her body. The doctors are monitoring her closely today for any changes. When we were able to see Melinda this morning the catheter had already been removed. We are feeling scared and excited. We know she is improving every day but can't help worrying since we can't watch her pressure on the monitor. Melinda's orthopedic surgeon stated that they would be operating on her pelvis when the neuorsurgeon gives them the okay to operate.

Melinda is moving her hands and arms and becoming easily agitated. When Melinda starts hurting or gets agitated her vitals rise. The nurse will give Melinda pain medicine to calm her down.

Keep praying for all of us for this will be another stressful day watching and monitoring her without the familiar monitors of her brain pressure that we use to watch.

  4. Glad to hear the progress Melinda is making. She has a long road ahead, but with God's good grace, I know that she can be whole once again. Praying for her total recovery every day and putting Melinda in the Great Physicians hands. I pray also for the doctors, that they will know just the right things to do for her to enable her body to heal. It is hard to understand how a body so broken can be made whole again, but our Lord knows and in faith, I believe in His power and will for beautiful Melinda. I pray also for those loved ones and friends, that your love and faith in God will comfort and support you. God bless you all and may his comforting arms support you and Melinda during this, sometimes very scary, time.
    God's mercy endures forever. Amen.
