Update

5/22/09

Melinda had a very good night. Melinda's vitals were stable throughout the day. Melinda's doctor ordered her to start breathing on her own today. Melinda is still on pressure support only if she needs help breathing. Melinda has handled breathing on her own all day.

Occupational therapy sat Melinda up for just a little bit today. Melinda stuck our her tongue on command. Melinda's rehab doctor had shown up to see her bring her hands together. The occupational therapist says Melinda putting her hands together is huge. She stated they don't usually see that for at least 6-8 weeks. Melinda's rehab doctor on command asked her to squeeze his hand and she did. Melinda's doctor ordered her to be taken off the blood pressure medicine and is trying another medicine to get her to wake up to be more alert.

The occupational therapist says they will continue to sit Melinda up once a day and on Tuesday they will stand Melinda up. They will stand her up to put all her pressure on her left leg since her pelvis is broken on the right side.

Melinda again rested for most of the day. Please continue to pray that Melinda will have a good night tonight and a good day tomorrow.

GOD BLESS
