UPDATE

5/8/09

Melinda had a peaceful night and all her vitals were good. Early this morning her ventilator tubes and feeding tubes were removed and replaced with the trachea and feeding tube placed in her stomach. Melinda did very well and is resting comfortably today. We are very excited cause we now get to see her beautiful face. Melinda's pulse rate is still a little high but she is given medicine to keep it down. Melinda is almost weaned off the oxygen machine and is almost breathing completely on her own. Melinda has handled this well. The oxygen machine will only help if she has any trouble breathing at any time. The neurosurgeons reviewed Melinda this afternoon and advised that when Melinda wakes up they will then assess her brain function.

We are so grateful for each and everyone that has said a prayer or thought for Melinda. Thank you and god bless.
