Today was more or less a day of monitoring Melinda. She faught a fever most of the day and her heart rate would race when she was agitated. The doctors said there is no infection in the brain and her lungs sound good. They sent of a sample to check to see if she had a urinary tract infection. This is a little suspect due to her urine being a little cloudy. The doctors said her heart rate is common at this stage of someone with head injuries. The doctors stated that she is out of the critical period of her head injury and a very long period of recovery is ahead. The doctors decided they were not going to operate on her pelvis. They say it is set and should heal, but they will watch it as we progress. Tomorrow she is scheduled to get the respirator and tubes out of her mouth and put a trachea and feeding tube in her side. They say this is a good thing and it is much more comfortable to Melinda.
We appreciate all the thoughts, prayers, and visits for Melinda and encourage everyone to keep praying for her.
